Kuro Game’s generosity towards players in Wuthering Waves continues, as the company is set to give away another free five-star character in the upcoming 1.2 update. This follows their previous acts of kindness, proving that their rewards aren’t just a one-time occurrence.

How to get Xiangli Yao free in Wuthering Waves 1.2

In the recent Wuthering Waves version 1.2 dev notes, the upcoming new five-star character, Xiangli Yao, has been announced to be free to all players. Xiangli Yao, an Electro Gauntlet user, is set to arrive during the second half of the update.

To obtain him, you must participate in the By Moon’s Grace event during the course of 1.2. This event has you accumulating a special resource called Popularity, unique specifically to the event itself. This resource will be a necessity to obtain Xiangli Yao, and while we don’t have all the gritty specifics attached to the event just yet, we’ll keep you posted with the details when it officially releases.

Wuthering Waves 1.2: New Features and Quality-of-Life Improvements

Besides that, Kuro Games is rolling out several quality-of-life improvements and new features for Wuthering Wave version 1.2 Among the standout features is the Custom Lock-On system, which allows you to prioritize targets based on movement direction, camera orientation, or distance, making combat more intuitive and responsive.

To further streamline gameplay, the update introduces the Utility Hoverdroid: Shooter. This new utility wheel addition simplifies overworld puzzle-solving by eliminating the annoyance of needing to swap to gun units, making exploration smoother. Alongside this, the Excess Waveplate Feature will provide you with one Waveplate Crystal every 12 minutes, up to a maximum of 480, ensuring a steady supply of Waveplates (Stamina) even while offline.

Additionally, the new Resonator Showcase Feature offers a platform for you to better highlight their account load-outs, adding a personal touch to your profile. The Depths of Illusive Realm event is also receiving significant updates, including new store rewards and the introduction of the formidable Dreamless boss, further deepening the event’s challenge and rewards. There are also several additional events accompanying it, including another wave of the Gifts of Lunar Radiance event (free gacha pulls).

For those focused on daily progress, the improved Guidebook Activity Points system will reduce the time required to complete all daily quests, allowing for a more efficient gameplay routine. If you’re on PC, you can also look forward to a boost in performance, with the option to play at 120 FPS, ensuring a smoother combat experience. Wuthering Waves version 1.2 is slated to officially release on August 15.
